World Homeschooling Regulations

In many countries, the legality of home education is a matter of interpretation, since the terms “homeschooling” or “home education” are rarely used in laws and regulations.  It seems clear that many “underground” homeschoolers operate in countries where homeschooling’s legal status is uncertain or even explicitly prohibited.

The ICHER worldwide regulation map focuses on countries where home education is clearly permitted or where multiple independent sources have verified that it is permitted in at least some circumstances.  ICHER welcomes additional information from readers that would augment or correct these data.
