[Back to Map] ICHER: Regulations

Homeschooling is allowed, provided that it is equivalent to what is offered in school and that parents notify their municipality. Municipalities have some freedom as to how they are organized, but are responsible for inspections. These inspections usually occur annually and usually involve a teacher visiting the child’s home and talking with the parents. If the quality of the child’s home education is found to be unsatisfactory, the child must be enrolled in a school.
