[Back to Map] ICHER: Regulations

Education and school attendance are mandatory for students ages six to sixteen. Although the Law on Education prohibits parents from homeschooling their children, other types of education, such as correspondence courses and individual, independent, and distance education, are allowed. As a result, many children are homeschooled while being registered with and supervised by a public or private school. Home visits, exams given by teachers, and end of the year testing are mandatory.
